DST Rubber manufactures custom rubber components for critical industrial applications, with capabilities in fabric-reinforced rubber diaphragms, in-house rubber compounding, precision molding, and validation support for global customers.
The Problem
A USA-based customer required a fabric-reinforced rubber diaphragm for a critical application. Although the customer had an approved compound supplier, the order volume was very small, while the supplier’s Minimum Order Quantity was extremely high.
Procuring the compound at MOQ would have created more than 200 lbs of excess material, along with high import duty, logistics cost, scrap generation, and an unviable landed cost for a small production run. DST Rubber identified that the core issue was not manufacturing, but supply chain inefficiency.
The Solution
DST Rubber requested the complete material specification from the customer and studied the required performance parameters. Using its internal rubber mixing facility, DST Rubber developed an equivalent compound in-house, matching the required mechanical properties, chemical resistance, processability, and performance characteristics.
The newly developed compound was then used to manufacture the diaphragm. PPAP samples were submitted to the USA customer and successfully validated. After approval, the PSW, Part Submission Warrant, was signed, confirming DST Rubber as an approved supplier for both the diaphragm and the compound.
The Impact
The solution helped the USA customer move forward with a small-volume critical diaphragm requirement without unnecessary cost burden or material waste.
