A leading international Tier-1 automotive supplier partnered with D S Techno Rubber Pvt. Ltd. (DST) to localize critical rubber components used in an AdBlue pump assembly. The objective was clear—reduce costs, improve supply reliability, and eliminate dependency on imports, without compromising OEM performance.

The Problem: Import Dependency with No Technical Data

The client relied on imported rubber components, resulting in high costs, long lead times, and supply chain risks.

The bigger challenge was the absence of technical documentation. There were no drawings, material specs, or design references for the 13 components. Any mismatch could impact emission compliance, chemical resistance, and system performance, making localization complex and high-risk.

The Solution: Precision Reverse Engineering & Development

DST rebuilt all 13 components from scratch using a structured engineering approach.

We began with dimensional mapping and geometry reconstruction to ensure precise fitment. Material identification was carried out through fluid compatibility testing, leading to the development of application-specific compounds such as EPDM for AdBlue resistance and FKM for diesel exposure.

Custom moulds were developed for each part, using compression and transfer moulding for accuracy and repeatability. For critical assemblies, DST implemented advanced rubber-to-metal bonding to ensure durability under demanding conditions.

Each component was validated through fitment trials, mechanical testing, and chemical resistance checks, followed by system-level approval.

The Results: Business Impact for a Global Automotive Client

DST successfully delivered all 13 rubber components, enabling full localization of the AdBlue pump assembly for an international automotive supplier—meeting strict OEM and emission standards.

Key outcomes:

  • 20–35% cost savings by eliminating import dependency
  • 40–60% faster lead times for improved production agility
  • 100% localization of critical rubber components
  • 30–50% better supply chain reliability
  • 15–25% lower inventory costs
  • Reduced production downtime risk
  • Consistent OEM-grade quality across global applications

The client transitioned from a high-cost, import-driven model to a stable, scalable, and locally optimized supply chain.
